Welcome to Daytrippermom.com!

Hello everyone.  Thanks for stopping by!  I am excited to introduce my new blog, Daytrippermom.com.  For as long as I’ve known about blogs, I’ve wanted to start one, but never felt like the time was right or that I had the right material.  For the past several years I have been taking my children on many day trips of all types and I always do a lot of research before I go.  I wondered if maybe others could benefit from my experience and knowledge, and blogging seems to be the best way to accomplish that.  I am thrilled to have an outlet for my writing and a chance to build on my skills as I ponder an eventual career path.

My hopes and dreams for this blog is that it will inspire others to take a day trip, especially with children.  I know everyone loves to do things like amusement parks and going to the movies, but I would encourage you to think of ways to incorporate more hands-on learning while having fun at the same time…visiting historical landmarks, experimenting with science, exposing them to the arts and culture, getting outdoors, and even serving the community together as a family!  I envision this blog as being a resource for moms and dads, grandparents, homeschool families, and maybe even teachers as they look for field trip ideas.

I have already included several blog posts of some local destinations (Lancaster County) to give you an overview of how I plan to organize the blog.  I have more posts written that I will release probably every couple of days.  After that, I will continue to write and travel, publishing more posts as my schedule allows.  I will include only destinations I have visited within the last two years to ensure the information is up to date and relevant.  I will also include events (and even races since I’m a runner) if they are family-friendly and educational in some way.  I will be connecting to other social media outlets and in the future I would like to be able to offer contests and giveaways to keep it fun and engaging!  I will probably also blog about travel-related topics such as saving money, tips for travel with kids, itinerary-planning, etc. This will be a work in progress and I am excited to see where it will go!

Feel free to offer suggestions and comments of your own and I’ll see what I can do!  Of course, I can only go on so many trips…as I always say, “So many trips, so little time, so little money…”  Finally, I am asking for your help in getting the word out about Daytrippermom.com.  Please pass the information along to your own social networks or those you think may be interested in it.  Thank you!!
