Cater your day trips to your child’s learning strengths
Day trips can be a perfect time to nurture your child’s individual strengths and intelligence. Have a child who is art smart? Take them to an art museum. What about a child who is logic smart? Take them to a science-based museum. Maybe they are nature smart. Take them on a new hiking trail. If you have multiple children, consider splitting them up to cater a trip to their best interests and have a special date with your child. Not only do they love it but you will remember that you really do love your child (take a break from all the nagging and disciplining…if you have a tween, you know what I’m talking about!) Taking your child on educational and cultural trips really gives them an opportunity to expand their world and become inspired in their particular gifting.
I was encouraged to write this post after I listened to a podcast highlighting the different types of intelligence people have. I listen to a lot of parenting podcasts but this was one of the best I have ever heard, and has stuck with me a long time. Not only has it helped me understand my children, but it’s given me insight into my own types of intelligence, helping me to know how I interact with my world. Take some time to listen to this two part broadcast, I promise you will be changed!
